Snacking in Scranton PA For Weight Loss

I was actually a bit surprised that I had not addressed the topic of snacking on my blog yet. Snacking is one of the most common things that will derail someones weight loss. If you want to be successful on your weight loss journey you need to have a good plan for snacking.

Just to be clear for me a snack is something quick, something tasty and something smaller then a normal meal. A snack is not something that is unhealthy, a ‘treat’, something bad. It is food. It is something I need to eat.

There are many ways to plan out a diet. Some people eat 3 normal meals a day. Some will eat 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day. Some people eat one giant meal a day.. etc etc. What I am currently doing is eating 3 normal meals and about 3 snacks. So today I’d like to talk about some of the snacks I eat.

Fruit! Okay I know some people are against sugar or on a low carbohydrate diet. If that is your plan then be careful with this or only eat low fruit snacks like berries. I normally eat at least two pieces of fruit a day. If I am travelling with my fruit I prefer apples and bananas. I also will snack on blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. All taste great and for me serve as good snacks before a workout.

VEGGIES: Another great snack that works for almost anyone is raw veggies. There are certain veggies that are great raw that you can eat plain with no dip or anything like that. My favorites are baby carrots, red peppers, green peppers, cucumbers and pickles. Again they all travel pretty well in a cooler. Here is a great tip if you want to make a very healthy dip. Take fat free greek yogurt and mix in some ranch powder to taste. It is super simple and super quick to make. Taste great with all the above veggies except pickles… that would be weird. It also goes great with broccoli and cauliflower and those are two vegetables that I always prefer to have a dip with instead of eating plain.

Greek Yogurt: This is a great snack. You can eat it plain if you want but my favorite way to snack on it is to mix in fresh fruit or when I am in a rush is to just stir in Polaner Sugar Free with Fiber Preserves. If you have never tried that I definitely suggest you give it a try. It will make a nice sweet tasting yogurt that is low in calories and high in protein. Another option is to mix in a good tasting protein powder. I love mixing in cinnamon bun protein powder to my greet yogurt. That will make a very nice tasting super high protein snack. Great after a workout or before bed especially if you have been working out during the day.

So please try some of these out. Write them down and add them to your grocery shopping list. Add them to your diet plan and try one or two out a day. Don’ be afraid to snack just make sure they are healthy and help you lose weight.
